Pesticide Priority Recommendation Form

Overview

The Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) is accepting public submissions on potential priorities that will be reviewed as a part of its science-based prioritization process. DPR will determine what moves forward for consideration and subsequent recommendation to the Department by Scientific Prioritization and Review Committee (SPARC). The submissions can include:

  • Pesticides
  • Pesticide groups
  • Products
  • Pesticide uses

All submittals are initially categorized as Category 3 and summary information will be posted publicly. DPR will evaluate Category 3 submittals using the information submitted, summary of US EPA and DPR regulatory action, DPR’s science-based prioritization tools, and summarized data including:

  • Pesticide Use Reports
  • Persistence and mobility
  • Toxicity data (animal studies, birds, fish, invertebrates, pollinators, aquatic invertebrates, etc.)
  • Summary of environmental monitoring data
  • Pesticide Illness Surveillance Program (PISP)

DPR will select Category 2 priorities following the evaluation described above for discussion at SPARC meetings. SPARC may then recommend potential priorities for DPR action as Category 1 priorities. SPARC will provide science-based recommendations to inform DPR’s decisions to initiate actions to address potential risks to human health and the environment from pesticide use.

More information about the prioritization process is available in the SPARC Fact Sheet

DPR’s current priorities for actions related to continuous evaluation and mitigation including timelines and milestones can be found on the DPR website.

Purpose of This Form

Please use this form to describe a pesticide-related concern you believe should be considered for prioritization as part of DPR’s continuous evaluation and mitigation work. Submittals should include evidence or supporting information. You do not need to include a full scientific analysis.

Submission Window

DPR established timeframes needed to gather data to support discussion at quarterly SPARC meetings. The Fall 2026 SPARC meeting will focus on submissions related to human health.

DPR will accept submissions from August 7 through September 11, 2026.

Please note that under the California Public Records Act (Government Code section 7920.000 et seq.), your submittal and attachments become part of the public record and can be released to the public. You do not have to provide personal information to submit a pesticide priority recommendation.
